\the idea behind the chamber
Mythic Ember Chamber is based on the idea that forms are not invented, but revealed. Each sculpture begins as a raw block of marble, limestone, sandstone, or granite – marked by weight, fissures, texture, and a geological history shaped long before any human touch. Simply by carving away material, archaic figures and abstract structures emerge from the mass. Some parts remain raw and fractured, while precise geometric planes break through the surface – like exposed fragments of something ancient. These works do not aim to depict perfect beings. They exist somewhere between figure, artifact, and pure presence – suspended between genesis and erosion. Each sculpture is hand-carved from a single block. No casting. No reproduction. Only stone, force, and the act of removal.
\statement
from mass. Defined by restraint.
Forms emerge from a single block of stone.
No casting. No replication.
Only the paring away of material –
until something ancient emerges.
No casting. No replication.
Only the paring away of material –
until something ancient emerges.
A raw block of stone. No sketches. No predetermined form. The process is subtractive – material is removed, not added. Structure and tension emerge step by step. Raw breaks remain, forming a contrast to the refined surfaces. What remains is not constructed, but revealed.
